Job breakdowns

Grok's chat history has basically two cleanup options: delete one chat at a time (trash icon, then a checkmark to confirm), or "Delete All." There's no multi-select, no filtering by date or topic, and no way to filter out voice chats or car chats (there's no car label at all). Search also failed when I tried full titles.

If you talk to Grok in the car, your history fills up with "Audio Conversation," "New conversation," and "directions to…" I had about 1,900 chats.

GrokBots can fill that gap. Here's what's possible:

🧹 One-time bulk cleanup

• Inventory every chat: title, date, and whether it was a voice chat

• Sort them into keep, junk, and unsure, and show you the groups

• Delete only what you approve

My first pass cleared about 100 junk chats in a single approved batch.

🔁 Weekly autopilot

• Only checks chats that are new since the last run

• Auto-deletes the obvious junk, like generic voice chats

• Sends you likely junk as a numbered list, and you reply "yes," "yes except #4," or "keep all"

• Keeps anything substantive or uncertain, and stays quiet when there's nothing to clean

🎯 On demand

• "Delete everything from March 3–10"

• "Delete the chat titled ___," which also handles several chats with the same title

• "Find all my chats about ___"

• "Find my car chats." There's no car label, so it guesses from the voice icon, driving topics, and generic titles

It always shows you the matches first.

⚠️ Lessons learned

• Scroll to the very end of the list. My first inventory stopped early and missed about 340 chats

• Search for titles in the full list, not with Grok's search box

• If a title shows up more than once, check that every copy is approved before deleting

• Refresh the inventory after deletions, or it'll still list chats that are gone

• Grok signs you in through X, so you do that step yourself, never the bot

GROK CHAT HISTORY CLEANUP

WEEKLY (pick a day and time):

  1. Open grok.com/history in a browser where I'm already signed in. If I'm signed out, stop and ask me to sign in. Never sign in for me.

  2. Newest chats are listed first. Scroll only back to the newest chat you recorded last run, then stop. For each newer chat, note its title, its date, and whether it was a voice chat (waveform icon). On the first run, scroll to the very end and check the total count.

  3. Skip chats less than 24 hours old and any chat on my keep list.

  4. Sort the new chats:

  • AUTO-DELETE: voice chats with a generic title ("New conversation", "Audio Conversation", "Chat on "). If more than 25 qualify, delete none and ask me.

  • ASK ME: other junk, meaning voice chats about driving (directions, adding stops, nearby places, store hours, car controls, current route), auto-generated news summaries, and one-line math or conversions.

  • KEEP: [YOUR TOPICS, e.g. work, family, money, health, legal, hobbies, projects] and anything substantive. When unsure, keep it and add it to an "unsure" list.

  1. Before deleting any chat, open it and save its full text (title, date, voice yes/no) to a dated archive file. Confirm the file saved, then back it up to cloud storage.

  2. Delete one chat at a time with that row's own trash icon and checkmark. Re-check the title and date right before clicking, and confirm afterward that the row is gone. Match exact titles in the full list, not with search. If several chats share a title and not all are approved, skip them and ask. Never use "Delete All."

  3. Send me one short report: how many chats were archived and deleted, the archive file, and a numbered list of the ASK ME chats grouped by type. I'll reply "yes", "yes except #N", or "keep all".

  4. After I reply, archive the approved chats, then delete them. Add any I keep to my keep list. Make sure the totals add up: found = deleted + kept + pending.

  5. If nothing is new, don't message me.

MONTHLY (first week of the month):

Show me the chats on the "unsure" list as a numbered list. Archive and delete the ones I approve, move the rest to the keep list, then clear the unsure list.

ON REQUEST:

I can ask you to find or delete chats by date or date range, exact title, or topic/keyword. Show me the matches as a numbered list first. Then archive and delete only the ones I approve, using the same steps.

RULES:

  • Nothing beyond the auto-delete group gets deleted without my approval.

  • No archive, no delete.

  • Never send messages or buy anything without asking me first.
